I’ll admit, while I don’t have an overall brand preference (I like to mix and match!), I do tend to have brand preferences for certain products. Bite lipsticks, Hourglass powders, and Urban Decay eyeshadows, to give some examples. However, lately I’ve been finding $19 an eyeshadow to be a little too pricey. College just started, so my money’s tight! Buxom’s new eyeshadows have been getting lots of rave reviews and for $12, it’s a WAY better deal than UD. While I was tempted to make my own palette of six for just $40, I knew I should just try one shadow out first before buying an entire palette’s worth. What if the consistency was dry, difficult to blend, or *gasp* there was fallout?! Making up my mind, I bought this shade, Wild Nights.
Wild Nights is described as a “shimmering sugar plum”. It’s a medium-plum with orange undertones and pink shimmer. While that description sounds horrible (an orangey-purple?! Eww!), Wild Nights is just stunning. It’s such a interesting and unique shade of purple, I have nothing else like it in my arsenal of eyeshadows! It’s very pigmented, has a nice, smooth texture, and very minimal fallout. As with every eyeshadow, I use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Wild Nights lasted over 9 hours without creasing.
If you have green eyes, this is a must-have eyeshadow! This plum is perfect for accentuating your eye color, and you’ll be getting compliments all day long. In these pictures I used Wild Nights all over my lid and blended it out with Booty Call from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Since this is such a unique shade, it was a little tricky finding a lipstick that worked well with it. Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien provides a perfect rosy pink color with a little shine. Buxom shadows are $12 individually, although you can create your own palette of 6 for $40! You can view their full eyeshadow range here. I will definitely be making a full palette in the future, these are just fantastic. Have you tried Buxom eyeshadows before? 🙂
