Blush: the essential product that can make or break a look. The color shouldn’t clash, pigmentation should be nice, texture should be smooth, have reasonable lasting power, and most importantly, it should be applied LIGHTLY. Too strong and you’re on the verge of looking clown-like! With so many stipulations, is there really such a thing as a universal blush; one that looks incredible on everyone?
Makeup Artists and Beauty Experts claim NARS Blush in Orgasm fits the bill; a beautiful peachy pink with shimmer. This was actually the first blush I ever purchased, and for a short while I was obsessed with it. Over time I accumulated more and more blushes, with different finishes and colors. Orgasm got pushed back into the depths of my makeup drawer, and was ultimately forgotten. Cue two days ago; I was digging through my makeup cabinet searching for my foundation palette when I stumbled upon this blush again. It then hit me I hadn’t used this baby in over a year! Why had I stopped using it in the first place? It was still in pretty good condition, I hadn’t even hit pan yet. NARS Orgasm deserved another shot.
First of all, the color description isn’t exactly spot-on. This blush is a beautiful pink with a slight peachiness to it. It is also described as “shimmery”, when in reality this shade has chunks of glitter. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as I am totally fine with glitter. If you’re looking for more of a matte finish you might want to skip Orgasm and check out their shade Amour. This blush has a decent wear time; I noticed the color starting to fade around the 6 hour mark. The sparkle does stay behind, so expect some glittery cheeks!

Overall, this is a nice blush and I can see why this is considered universal. The pigmentation is nice, blends easily, and looks semi-natural (the glitter does stand out!). However, there are just other blushes I like better; it’s that simple. The Hourglass blush palette from last year is just perfection, I’ve been using it non-stop! The powders are finely milled, so they are extremely smooth. They also have a longer wear time, lasting for about 7-8 hours. In conclusion, NARS blush in Orgasm is a very good shade and looks great on everyone, there are just better blushes on the market. Have you tried this “Cult Classic” shade before? What are your thoughts on this iconic color?
