Beautycon Box Fall 2016 Unboxing!

You guys, I did a thing. Well more accurately I didn’t do a thing, which led to me doing a thing. Ever had that? In my case, it has to do with the always cool Beautycon Box. For those unfamiliar with it, Beautycon is a makeup convention that takes place yearly in Los Angeles, New York, London, and Dallas. Along with the conventions, they also have subscription boxes curated by beauty gurus. There are 4 boxes a year, usually sent out by season.

Back in May I signed up to receive a box Bunny (aka Grav3yardGirl) curated, and had to decide between a seasonal or annual membership. Since I wasn’t really down to pay $99 at one time, I decided to go seasonal. Priced at only $29 per box, it just seemed more logical at the time. However, after Bunny’s Spring Box came Kandee Johnson’s curated Summer Box, and I couldn’t pass that up. After receiving my Summer Beautycon Box, I planned & meant to unsubscribe…you see where this is going?

Yepp, I forgot to unsubscribe. You can imagine my surprise upon opening my door & finding this perfect little package sitting on my doorstep! It was a good surprise obviously, as what makeup addict doesn’t like more makeup?

Fall Beautycon Box 2016

This year, the Fall Beautycon Box is curated by Angel Merino (aka MAC_Daddy) and MakeupShayla, both social media superstars in the beauty industry. The box’s total value is priced at over $100, which is a steal for only paying $30. There are 11 products in total, sponsored by brands like Jouer, Milani, Luxie, Ofra, and Sugarfina. Overall I was pretty pleased with the products included; there was only one that I unfortunately won’t be able to use. 😦 Let’s see what we’ve got!

Fall Beautycon Box 2016

Wow. That Luxie angled brush? Those beautiful falsies? A freakin’ pack of Sugarfina Sour gummy lips?! *Heart-Eyes Emoji*This box is amazing. One thing I kind of noticed comparing this box to the last one though, the Summer box seemed to be a little more cohesive; most of the products had a common theme or went together in some way. Kandee’s box was mainly focused on skincare, with a few makeup items here and there. With this one, I don’t see that level of cohesion. I’m not sure that maybe the fact 2 makeup artists collaborated for one box is what’s throwing the vibe of this box off, but honestly I’m loving it. Any box I get that has a makeup brush is an automatic win for me, and the stickers and little lipstick pin are so adorable! ❤ Here’s the list of what’s inside below, along with the art print & stickers included:

Spoiler: Lush Valentine’s Day 2016!

This year’s Valentine’s Day range was leaked on instagram a few days ago, pamphlets have been making their way into stores across the U.S./Canada, and I have some bad news…I’ll let the following pictures do the talking. (Don’t worry UK, your spoilers are in here too!) Here is what’s coming to stores in NA:

The big gift set! Once again, thank you @lushteacher on instagram. 🙂

Notice anything missing? There aren’t any bath bombs!! Love Locket and Floating Flower were cut from this year’s lineup, and it appears Heart Throb bubbleroon and Lonely Heart bubble bar were left off the roster as well. 😦 Prince Charming has a new formula; instead of it’s popular gel form, you can get it as a shower cream! The Kiss balm and scrub are back, as is the lavender Unicorn Horn bubble bar. I find it odd that there is such a difference between the UK and US items this year:

2 new bath bombs AND Heart Throb?! Also, all of the items mentioned in the NA spoiler will be available in the UK as well. That means NA=5, UK=8. If you didn’t have a chance to try Heart Throb last year, it is wonderful. It creates a ton of bubbles, moisturizes your skin, and you get at least 2 uses out of it! Same fragrance as African Paradise body conditioner, a spicy floral with a hint of sweetness from the vanilla. I couldn’t find any pictures of the UK gift sets yet; I’ll update this post when more info is released. If the information on the pamphlets is correct, you can expect these in-store January 15th and online sooner! ❤

Golden Glamour: 2015 in review

I’m still in shock that in 6 months, I’ve garnered 45,000 views. For years I was worried about joining the beauty blogging world, as there are so many great ones out there. Would it just be a waste of time for me to put effort into something that nobody would read? After a few months of going back and forth on deciding to start Golden Glamour, I bit the bullet and joined WordPress. Discussing all things beauty is a passion of mine, one that unfortunately none of my friends enjoyed. Writing and reviewing products became an outlet for me, a way to communicate and connect with fellow makeup addicts.

Being a member of the beauty blogging community has been so rewarding, and I’m happy to announce that I upgraded my blog to Premium. That means videos! It’s a completely different realm from blogging, one that I’m excited to explore. Also, I got the “u” back in Glamour, hooray! 😀 The new web address is http://www.goldenglamour.net; kinda bummed that the .com version is already taken. 😦

Thank you so much for reading, subscribing, or just taking notice in this beauty blog, it means so much. This year has been so enjoyable, can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store! Happy New Years everyone, please be safe and have a lovely evening. ❤

-Kelly

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 45,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 17 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

What’s On My Holiday Wishlist!

If you’re a fellow beauty addict, you know that Christmas and birthdays are primetime for receiving makeup goodies. Every year I sit down and write out a wishlist to give to my family members, because literally all I ask for are beauty-related products! Eyeshadow palettes, lipsticks, and Lush are some usual items that make the cut. Since Christmas is now a week away (ONE WEEK!), I figured it would be prime time to put this post out there. If you’re still working on your list, maybe some of these will catch your fancy. 😉

Bite Beauty Best Bite Rewind Lipstick Set

Bite Beauty Best of Bite Rewind Lipstick Set Sephora 2015Bite Beauty Best of Bite Rewind Lipstick Set Sephora 2015

For those that are not familiar with Bite Beauty, you are seriously missing out. These lipsticks are heaven-sent, what dreams are made of! Bite is a lip product only brand, and only carried at Sephora. This set includes 4 of their Matte Creme Lip Crayons; 3 of them are new and limited edition shades, one is permanent. The Bite Rewind Set costs $25 and can be purchased here.

Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette

Kat Von D Innerstellar Eyeshadow Palette Sephorap391755-av-01-hero300

If there’s one brand that has been taking the makeup community by storm this year, it’s Kat Von D. Her line has a wide array of products, not just focusing on one item. The Shade+Light Contour palette is phenomenal, and her liquid lipsticks are top notch. Personally I’m not too fond of the Tattoo liners, but many others are. This eyeshadow palette has gorgeous shimmery metallics, buttery mattes, and a bizarre yet beautiful array of shades. The three shades across the top of the palette act as a base for the beautiful purple, silver, and pearl hues. Innerstellar is $46 and can be bought at Sephora here or off her personal site here.

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anna

The lipstick world is full of rosey nudes, nearly every brand has their own shade. However, nothing comes even close to the awesomeness of Anna. The NARS Audacious formula is creamy, pigmented, and long wearing. The packaging is nice and chic, I love that it has a magnetic closure. Anna is a smokey, rose nude that is universally flattering. If you’re looking for a splurge-worthy lipstick, give this one a shot. You can buy this $32 lippie at most beauty places, like Sephora, Nordstroms, and NARS website.

Tarte Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette

p391759-av-03-hero300p391759-av-04-hero300Tarte Tartelette Eyeshadow Palette Matte 2015

“Uhm, this looks just like an ordinary, boring eyeshadow palette. Neutral shades, what’s so great about this?” The biggest selling feature for the Tartelette palette is that ALL OF THE SHADES ARE MATTE. If you’re looking for a nice neutral palette without any sparkle or shimmer, this one is practically made for you. There are some concerns on whether the shades might be too cool for those with warmer skin tones, and they are reasonable. Mauves tend to look better on cooler complexions. However, Tarte released a NEW Tartelette palette, Tartelette In Bloom. The colors are warmer, and I believe there are two shimmery shades, but the rest are mattes. This palette costs $45.00 and can be purchased at Sephora, Ulta, Tarte’s website, and Macys.

Tocca Parfum Wardrobe Gift Set

This little perfume set is one of the best gifts you can give to that fragrance addict in your life. The Tocca Parfum Wardrobe Set has 6 of their best selling perfumes in deluxe-mini sizes. Cult classics Cleopatra, Florence, and Stella are included, as are Isabel, Giulietta, and Simone (my fave!). This elegant little gift is $42.00 and is only available at Sephora.

“Where The Light Is” Eyeshadow Foursome by Colourpop

Colourpop Super Shock Shadows Where The Light Is Kathleen Lights Eyeshadow Quad 2015Colourpop Super Shock Shadows Where The Light Is Kathleen Lights Eyeshadow Quad 2015

Even though this product has been around for a couple months now, it is still so stunning and a great way to get introduced to Colourpop’s shadows. This eyeshadow quad is part of a collab with youtuber Kathleen Lights, and is all about that golden bronze smoky eye. The first two shades are matte, and the other two have a sparkly, pearlized finish. Just gorgeous! You can pick this quad up for $20 at Colourpop’s website here.

StingRAYE Ultra Matte Lippie by Colourpop

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lipstick StingRAYE Itsmyrayeraye collab 2015Rayezor-Stingraye-swatch-250x250

Such a lovely lipstick! StingRAYE is from Colourpop’s newest collab with the ever-so-pretty Raye Boyce, or “Itsmyrayeraye”. This ultra matte liquid lipstick is a mauve brown with cool undertones, and looks different on nearly everyone! If you follow the hashtag #stingraye on Instagram, you’ll see how this ranges from a light mauve to a dark brown on different complexions. It’s still so gorgeous, no matter how it appears. Available for $6 on Colourpop.com here.

Now for all of the Lush goodies! Lush always has such pretty holiday gifts, this year is no exception. Out of the dozens of gifts available, here are my top three:

Lush Cosmetics Christmas Party Gift Set

Lush Cosmetics Holiday Gifts 2015 Christmas PartyLush Cosmetics Holiday Gifts 2015 Christmas Party

This little gift trio is a perfect choice for anyone on your Christmas list. The packaging is fun and bright, (the ribbon nearly glows in the dark!) the price is great, and it includes the exclusive Yuzu and Cocoa Shower Cream! A delectable citrus scent with a chocolatey undertone, it’s one of Lush’s best fragrances. I would buy this set just for that shower cream, that’s how amazing it is! Christmas Party contains that yummy shower cream, Baked Alaska soap (grapefruit!), and Celebrate hand and body lotion (citrus champagne!). At $27.95, it’s the perfect present for everyone. You can pick up Christmas Party at your local Lush store or online here.

Lush Cosmetics The Human Cannonball Gift Set

06506_bLush Cosmetics Holiday 2015 The Human Cannonball Gift

For the fun-loving bath taker in your life, The Human Cannonball is a must-have. This gift is nothin’ but bombs, and has the cutest vintage packaging. When you pull the tissue paper off the top, it releases confetti and makes a pop! You get 5 bath fizzies: Fizzbanger (spicy apple), Luxury Lush Pud (beautiful lavender), Intergalactic (minty and grounding), Father Christmas (candy sweet), and Shoot For The Stars (honey toffee). All 5 of these bombs create wonderful works of bath art, and is a fantastic gift to give (or receive!). This fun set costs $39.95 and can be purchased at your local Lush shop or online here.

Lush Cosmetics Zing and Zest Gift Set

Lush Cosmetics Holiday Gifts Zing and Zest Christmas Present

I hesitated putting this one on the list, as it is really pricey and obviously not everyone is looking for a $90 gift. However, this is my wishlist, and this present is one of my favorites. If anything, this can be a Boxing Day purchase. Zing and Zest is a gigantic 11-piece gift set containing everything citrus. Lemon, orange, grapefruit, all of your favorites are here! This gorgeous hatbox has Baked Alaska soap, Miranda soap, Buffy body butter scrub, Each Peach massage bar, Refresher shower jelly, Lemony Flutter cuticle butter, Gorgeous facial moisturizer, Celebrate hand and body lotion, Ocean Salt scrub, Yuzu and Cocoa shower cream, and The Olive Branch shower gel. Zing and Zest is every citrus-lovers dream come true, and you can find one at your local shop or online here for $89.95.

Yep, that’s it! Any of these wonderful products catch your eye? Come Christmas morning, I expect all of these to be under my tree, so my relatives better take note! 😀 What’s on your wishlist? Let me know in the comments below.

Star Wars Makeup?! Covergirl’s Newest Collab

Fellow sci-fi nerds, prepare to geek out! As you may already know, Covergirl partnered up with Star Wars and created a limited edition line of cosmetics. By limited, I mean 6 lipsticks, 2 mascara formulas, and 6 nail polishes. However, there are ten different mascara tubes, each with a different saying! Five tubes are waterproof and have Jedi quotes, and the other five are regular mascara and have Sith quotes. Someone out there is going to buy all ten tubes, I just know it. This collection has been “out” for awhile, but nearly impossible to find in-store.

Star Wars Makeup Covergirl

Lipsticks from L-R: Dark Purple 50, Gold 40, Red 30, Lilac 20, Silver 10, Nude 70

Nail Polishes L-R: Red Revenge 180, Speed Of Light 200, Nemesis 195      (Nuclear, Mutant, and Fury not pictured)

Needless to say, these items have been selling like hotcakes and have fellow makeup junkies and Star Wars fanatics on waiting lists all across the country. Yep, I was one of those on the waiting list at my local Walgreen’s, no shame.

Star War Makeup Covergirl

Yes yes yes, a million times YES! After over a month of searching and sold out signs, I finally got my hands on some of these babies. There was a very limited selection: 4 lipstick shades and 2 mascaras, 1 of each. I’m not a huge fan of red lipstick, so that one didn’t make it in my shopping basket. You can buy the entire collection on there website here.

Star Wars Makeup Covergirl

Based off swatches alone, Lilac 20 is definitely my fave. Despite the tackiness of frosted lipsticks, this one is just so pretty! I’d describe it as a shimmery lavender. Nude 70 is a sparkly copper, like a glittery penny. Dark Purple 50 is a deep berry, very gothic. Reviews on these products will be posted throughout next week, so stay tuned! 🙂

Ginger’s October Favorites!

Despite having 31 days of Halloween fun, it just doesn’t seem like enough, right? The first couple days of November I usually experience “Post-Halloween Blues”, and then I start getting amped up for Christmas. (Does anyone really celebrate Thanksgiving anymore? 😦 ) Now that it’s November, we’re shifting into Turkey Time; also known as the month of loosened belt buckles, pumpkin pie, Macy Day Parade, and the ever-so-popular “Day of Death by Consumerism”. But first, let’s look back at some great October faves:

Ginger's October Favorites 2015

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bumble- Nothing screams “autumn” more than brown lipstick. If you’re a bit tentative and aren’t ready to apply some chocolate colored lippie, this is the shade for you. Bumble is a true terra cotta color, and looks fabulous on all complexions. It’s a darker nude that will get you in the holiday spirit. Depending on your coloring, this lippie can lean more red or brown. This shade wears very comfortably, doesn’t settle into lip lines, and lasts for hours. A must-have! Pick one up here.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Whiskey- When you have light eyelashes, sometimes black mascara and eyeliner can be a bit too much. If you want to go for that “No Makeup” makeup look, it’s a dead-giveaway. Whiskey is a matte brown with crazy pigmentation and blendability. I’ve been using it to tightline and it’s perfect for a softer look. As you can see, I’ll be picking up a new one soon, I’m almost out! Buy it here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette- Now that Strobing is the new makeup trend, highlighters and luminizers have been flying off the shelves worldwide. I’ve had this palette for almost a year now, and it’s a stellar product. There are three shades: one neutral (dim light), one pearlescent (incandescent light), and one golden beige (radiant light). These finely milled powders can be used in a multitude of ways; as a highlight (Incandescent is perfect for that!), as a subtle bronzer (Radiant light), or as an overall face powder to give your skin a beautiful glow (Dim light). There are some magical properties in these babies that smoothen your skin and blur imperfections, helping you look flawless in every light. This is a bit pricey at $58, but with the VIB Rouge and VIB sale currently going on (20% off everything!), you can pick this up for $46.40. Splurge on one here.

Ginger's October Favorites 2015Ginger's October Favorites 2015

Lush Cosmetics Baked Alaska Soap- This gorgeous bar soap was so popular last holiday season it’s back again this year! Grapefruit, lemon myrtle, and ylang ylang oil make this a zippy citrus with a touch of sweetness, just perfect for the holidays. In store this soap looks like a giant snowball, but when cut open a vibrant green and blue with red and yellow orbs is revealed. Every slice of soap is different, that’s the beauty of it. Baked Alaska gently cleanses and tones the skin, it isn’t drying or moisturizing. Grab a slice here.

What about some non-beauty loves? Here’s what I was obsessed with this October:

American Horror Story- Yep, I’m a total wimp when it comes to scary stuff. Anything paranormal, count me out! However, this show is SO good. Currently on Coven, which is definitely my favorite. Murder House was pretty great too though.. is it wrong that I find a sociopathic shooter attractive? Darn you Evan Peters! ❤

Golden Glamors October Favorites 2015

Golden Glamors October Favorites 2015

Disneyland Halloween Party- Attending the annual Disneyland Halloween Party has been a family tradition for the past couple years. The wait times are significantly shorter, people wear the coolest costumes, special food items, and you get loads of candy! I wore my brand new Shield logo shirt, with a hidden glow-in-the-dark Hydra symbol. As per usual, it was an awesome night. 🙂
