Merry (belated) Christmas! Holiday Haul 2015

Even though today is December 30th (or so the calendar says..), it is still December 25th in my mind. The entire month of December is like Christmas to me; it’s such a fun season! Maybe that’s the reason why I’ve been MIA these past couple weeks, just lost track of time. Orrrrrr I’ve really been under the weather, as that seems to be the most likely scenario right now. Despite all of the holiday cheer, my immune system just couldn’t hang. 😦

Christmas! Sweet, glorious Christmas! A holiday full of family, friends, food, and gifts, what could be better?! Us Southern Californians got a wonderful gift this holiday- cold weather! While it might be 33 degrees and snowing in Wisconsin, it’s brisk 62 degrees here, with the temp dropping to 38 at night. 😮 If only we could get some rain..

Besides the holiday cheer and chilly atmosphere, I personally had a lovely Christmas. Usually my father works Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, but he took the week off this year so we could all spend time together. My friends and I did some holiday shopping and binged on Christmas movies, my mother and I drove around our entire county to look at the pretty decorations and lights, and on Christmas Day we opened presents and had a wonderful family dinner. I couldn’t have asked for a better holiday. Hopefully yours was just as lovely! ❤

Lastly, a WordPress upgrade.

I now have my own website! Also, I got the “U” back in “Glamour”! (Even though you can spell it without the “u”, about 90% of the population use “glamour”) This is all so exciting, I can’t wait to update everything and start posting more content. There’s a stack of beauty products to review sitting on the floor next to my desk at the moment, so expect lots of reviews! 😉

Once again, I wish you a Merry belated Christmas, and a Happy New Year. See you in 2016! ❤

Sephora Haul: July Edition!

After days of going back and forth on deciding whether to purchase Naked Smoky, I finally caved. Calling my local JC Penney, they actually reserved one for me. The associate said they didn’t have them out for purchase, you had to call ahead or ask about it to buy one. Lucky I called! But how can you go to Sephora and not make some unexpected purchases?

While there, I noticed they had the Limited Edition Bite Beauty Frozen Berries Collection out on display! Filled with excitement, I rushed over and started swatching. When viewing these online, Barberry and Plum caught my eye. However, I found Plum very similar to Mulberry, which I already own. Elderberry was too dark, Juniper too bright. Black Cherry was a gorgeous dark red, Barberry a lovely purple. Added those to my basket without a second thought.

Browsing the beauty tools section, I remembered how old and grungy my makeup sponge currently looked. Just imagining it made me cringe. Picked up one of those as well. One of the sale products I saw online and wanted to try was the Sephora Ultimate oil-in-gel lipstick remover. It’s supposed to make removing matte lipsticks a lot easier, which is 95% of the time a pain to take off. Usually requires a lot of scrubbing, and leaves lips looking chapped. With this stuff, you apply it to your lips, leave on for 30 seconds, and then wipe off. I’m really hoping this gel works, it’ll make life so much easier!

Another last-minute purchase was a Buxom Eyeshadow Single in “Wild Nights”. It’s a beautiful shimmering plum, with taupe undertones; I honestly have nothing like it in my extensive eyeshadow collection. If this shadow wears well, I will definitely be building a Buxom Eyeshadow Palette of my own! It’s $40, and you get to choose 6 shadows out of their available 40. Each shadow single is $12 and the compact itself $13, giving the palette a $72 value on sale for $40. Such a great deal! Thank you Xandra for the suggestion. 🙂

Lastly, the pièce de résistance: Urban Decay Naked Smoky. I know in my UD Smoky thoughts post I wasn’t sure about getting this, but I caved. The shadows look very nice, lighter than they appear online. That’s one of the reasons I was so hesitant; worried the shadows would be too dark for my fair skin. Only the swatches will tell! The brush is different than the other Naked palettes, this one has a smudge brush on one end and a tapered crease on the other. However, the thing I love most about this palette isn’t the shadows, isn’t the brush; it’s the packaging. This palette is INSANELY gorgeous! From the smoky plastic exterior, the metal accents, magnetic closure and adjustable mirror, I’m just captured by it’s beauty.

Have you made any Sephora purchases recently? What did you buy? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂

BH Cosmetics Mini-Haul!

Look, it’s no secret, I love expensive makeup. I choose Clinique over Covergirl, Marc Jacobs over Maybelline, Bite Beauty over Burt’s Bees. I pay for quality. However, I’m also open to trying other “inexpensive” brands. I’ve heard about this company from just about everyone on YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, you name it, so it’s a bit overdue for me to look into their products. I will be comparing performance and price points in the next week or so.

BH Cosmetics always has some sort of sale or deal going on. When I placed my order it was free shipping on orders over $25 and a free mystery eyeshadow palette. Currently, if you spend $20 you get 1 free gift, $40+2 free gifts, $60+3 free gifts, all with free shipping. Now it doesn’t say what the gift is, that’s the tricky part. This offer ends tonight at midnight, so if you’re interested in trying anything make sure you jump on this deal! Another thing I’m not too fond of is the constant fluctuation of their prices; one of the palettes I bought was $13 and 4 days later it was $9. 😒 Anyways, let’s see what I bought, and what free palette I got!

This is what I bought, the “Galaxy Chic” Baked Eyeshadow Palette and a 10 shade Foundation & Concealer Palette. When checking their site, this eyeshadow palette just floored me with its beauty, and it’s cost. I mean, just look at those shadows!

While I’m not too fond of baked shadows, this galactic theme was too cool to pass up. Even if it doesn’t perform well I’ll still keep it; it’s just so beautiful! Closer pictures and reviews of the shadows will be coming soon, currently being swatched. You can purchase the Galaxy Chic palette here.

One of the BIGGEST hassles of doing someone else’s makeup is finding a correct foundation and concealer shade. Everyone has such different pigmentations and undertones, it’s nearly impossible to find a perfect shade, one that isn’t too orange or too pink. BH Cosmetics carries two different versions of this palette; one with lighter shades and one with darker shades. This is Palette 1.

These are cream foundations and concealers, with the lightest shade being an almost pure white, and the darkest a nice, neutral tan. Closer pictures and reviews coming soon, currently being tested. You can buy the Foundation and Concealer Palette here.

Lastly, what you’ve all been waiting for, the mystery eyeshadow palette!

Hmm. Still not really sure how to feel about this palette. I am the queen of neutral shadows, rarely ever use color. Especially not these colors:

Bright is an understatement, try more like “shockingly vivid”! Those top three rows make me anxious just looking at them, and that lime green is already giving me nightmares. However this was a free palette, so can’t really complain. Hopefully I’ll be able to whip up some perfect summer looks with this electric wonder! Closer pictures and reviews coming soon, currently swatching. You can buy the Eyes on the ’80s Palette here.

There you have it, 48 eye shadows and 10 foundations for $26. Impressive, right? So tell me, have you purchased anything from BH Cosmetics? Do you have any favorite products? Comment below! 🙂

Francesca’s Mini-Haul!

Wow, my first non-makeup post, how exciting! Although, jewelry is beautiful, so that technically counts as beauty…am I breaking any rules posting this to my beauty blog? Eh, I don’t think so. For those of you that haven’t heard of Francesca’s, it is a clothing, accessory, and home goods boutique; it’s a jewelry lover’s dream store. A bit pricey, but I highly suggest! Anyways, let’s see the purchases!
 Ooh, what can it be??

P.S.- I’ll be posting this eyeshadow look in a few days, keep an eye out for it!

Four pairs of earrings and a necklace! In case you hadn’t noticed, I have a thing for mint & gold. It’s just such a pretty color combo, one that looks perfect on redheads like myself. Maybe by the end of this post I’ll have convinced you to check out their store/site; we’ll have to see!

First up, earrings!

Peep earrings, I almost died from the cuteness when I saw these in-store! Look at the little peeps wearing sunglasses, wish I looked that cool when I wear my RayBans… Price: $12.00

Gorgeous mint & gold geode earrings. The texture of the earrings are really neat, I love how bohemian yet sophisticated they look. Price: $12.00

Gold Fleur-De-Lis stud earrings. Saw them, love the design, bought them. That’s about it. Price: $9.00

Lastly, my favorite: gold honeybee stud earrings. I cannot even describe how much I love these, they are so simple and quirky, kind of like me! They are so detailed, and I get compliments all the time when wearing these. Price: $9.00

Aaaaand the only non-earring jewelry item of the bunch, this necklace!
B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. Enough said. Price: can’t remember since I ripped the price tag off the moment I bought it, but I think it was $24.00

So there you have it! Are you convinced? 😉 If so, click the link here to view their website.
