Fem Rosa by Karrueche x Colourpop Collab: She Palette Review

Hi everyone! Whew, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted on here hasn’t it? I’ve just been living life to the fullest & haven’t found much time to write, simple as that. Also had a mean case of writers block for a few months, that was no bueno. 😦

Anyways, I thought of the perfect way to get back into the swing of things: snag a must-have item, test it, & review the hell out of it. What better product to do that with than the highly-sought after She palette by Karrueche?

For those unfamiliar with Karrueche Tran, the gorgeous actress & model & former girlfriend of Chris Brown, she created a second collaboration with the very insta-popular makeup brand Colourpop. Her first collab called KaePop focused on neutral, nude, & gold shades. Tbh, about 3/4 of that collection isn’t the best for ultra-pale skin, so I had to pass on it unfortunately. :/ However, her latest collection Fem Rosa, oh man. Metallic neutrals, soft mauves, & gorgeous rosy hues, this palette is a thing of beauty. Even the packaging is stunning; very understated but also on-trend. ❤ It’s no wonder this baby sold out in 15 minutes!

So, after setting 5 alarms on my iPhone to wake me up in time for the launch, does this palette live up to the social media hype? Let’s begin the review & dive into some swatches.

Colourpop Karrueche Tran She PaletteColourpop Karrueche Tran She Palette

Honestly, after the the first two swatches I was speechless. The pigmentation of these shadows are PHENOMENAL, and all of these swatches are done without primer! This is my first pressed powder palette from Colourpop, and it certainly won’t be my last. Here’s an in depth look at the shades & their color descriptions:

Colourpop Karrueche Tran She Palette

Ladylike: a metallic soft ivory

Babe: a satin light peachy pink

Dainty: a metallic pinky taupe

Chick: a metallic subtle gold

Colourpop Karrueche Tran She Palette

Mademoiselle: a metallic rose gold

Gal: a metallic red with copper duochrome

Empress: a metallic mid-tone pink plum

Filly: a metallic rusty orange

Colourpop Karrueche Tran She Palette

Dear: a matte warm rose

Missy: a matte deep burgundy

Damsel: a matte smokey violet

Duchess: a matte dusty coral

Even though this palette overall is amazing, there were a few standout shades and a few misses. Although I wouldn’t even classify them as misses, they’re still pretty darn good. It’s more of a “not as up to par as the other shades in the palette” type of thing.

Hits:  Dainty, Filly, Dear

All three of these shades were soft, buttery shadows pigmented beyond belief and blended incredibly well. Dainty is a gorgeous color that flatters all skintones, Filly is such a unique vibrant metallic that’s perfect for summer/fall, and Dear is the best matte in this palette. All A+’s in my book. ❤

A look at the pigmentation of the metallic shades. Incredible!

Misses:  Gal, Missy, Damsel

I know it seems crazy to have Gal on here, considering its such a gorgeous color with an amazing duo chrome effect. However, all that glitter duo chrome means it’s gonna be fallout city when applied, and if you know me you know I hateee fallout. 😦 The other two were difficult to blend and had a drier consistency than the other mattes in this palette. They even stained my fingers, which I found odd.

My finger was stained after swatching the matte shades, never had this happen before!

Currently this palette is out of stock, but Colourpop will be refilling it on Thursday, July 20th at 10 AM PST in limited quantities. The She palette retails for $16, and if you spend $20 on any of the Karrueche Collabs (Fem Rosa & KaePop) you get a free lipgloss! Who doesn’t love free makeup?

Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a decently priced rose & coral-toned palette, you need this in your life. However, it sells out fairly quick and they are only restocking a certain quantity. I suggest being online EXACTLY at 10 am PST, maybe even a little earlier, to ensure you get one. 🙂

Colourpop Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick in “Molly”

Confession time: the main reason I purchased this lipstick is the name. We’ve all done it at some point, right? When a product’s name is so cheeky, clever, or just plain cool, you have to have it! That was exactly the case with this lippie in the shade “Molly”. For those unfamiliar with music festivals, this a very popular, uhm, “happy pill” that makes the music more enjoyable and the night a lot crazier. 😉 Luckily this is a beautiful shade, one that has become a favorite in my lipstick arsenal.

Colourpop’s official description for Molly: “You’ll be hugging all your friends in this mid-tone plum lilac”. The color profile is pretty spot-on, as this lipstick doesn’t really lean warm or cool toned, meaning there’s a good chance it’s flattering on all complexions. As with all makeup though, it doesn’t always look the same on every person. For me, it looked a little dustier, not as bright as it looks on Colourpop’s models. However, when Molly fades it leaves behind a bright, mid-tone pink stain. Personally I like when lipsticks leave stains, that way if you aren’t able to reapply the product your lips still have some color to them.

This is also one of Colourpop’s newer liquid lipstick formulas, The Ultra Satin Liquid Lipstick. Unlike their Ultra Mattes, the Ultra Satins don’t have a flat matte finish and aren’t as drying. Since they aren’t matte, they are slightly, and I mean veryyy slightly, tacky. As long as you don’t apply too much, you’re good on the tacky-factor! The formula applies nice and smooth, very pigmented. All you need is one swipe, it doesn’t appear patchy at all. Personally, I like the Ultra Satins better than the Ultra Mattes. The formula is a lot smoother, more moisturizing, and doesn’t flake off or fade in a noticeable way.

Final Thoughts: After wearing Molly a few times out-and-about, it lasted for a good 5-6 hours before starting to fade. However, it faded beautifully. When checking my lips at the 6 hour mark, they were just a pretty vivid pink instead of the plummy lilac I had on before. There wasn’t any patchiness, therefore it wasn’t in dire need of a reapplication. As said before, this shade has become one of my favorites. Click here to check out Molly on Colourpop’s site.

Lush Cosmetics Halloween 2016 Line-up

Halloween products out now!

Normally around this time of year the Lush Holiday list gets leaked, and this year it’s no different! Halloween time at Lush is truly a magical experience; the spicy patchouli & sweet vanilla fragrance of the classic Lord of Misrule bath bomb gives stores a wonderful fall scent, while the fruity-boozy Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar adds an extra dose of cuteness to the decor. I must admit, last year I was a tad disappointed with the Halloween products, as there were very few options available. However, this year Lush really stepped up to the plate and brought out ELEVEN items, as opposed to last year’s grand total of five. Don’t worry, the favorites are still there along with some new goodies that look so freakin’ adorable!

Personally, I am ecstatic that Sparkly Pumpkin is returning, as I didn’t get a chance to stock up last year. By far one of my favorite holiday, perhaps even all-time, products, I’m tempted to buy a whole box-full of those beauties. ❤ So there you have it, Halloween 2016! Anything catch your eye? Let me know below! 🙂

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek Blush in Fox

Before we delve into a review and swatches, I have a short little anecdote. When I was perusing Colourpop’s website for some products to review, I stumbled upon this blush. With the name Fox and the color description Coral, I kinda thought it would be a coral-y orange shade, kinda like a fox y’know? Anyways, this baby made the list and was purchased immediately. To my surprise, this blush is a bright, neon pinky-coral shade. No orange whatsoever, which disappointed me a bit. However, it never said there was orange in the description, so it’s my own fault for thinking there was. Maybe I still have that Ylvis song on the brain, who knows!

Colourpop Blush in Fox

Despite my error in judgement, this blush is quite a stunner. Very intimidating at first glance, but with the proper application Fox can make your complexion rosy and warm. 🙂

Colourpop Super Shock Cheek in Fox12939134_10206600102226854_1461371106_n

First, Colourpop.com’s official description: “You’ll be a stone cold fox in this mid tone warm coral in a satin finish“. Uhm, swoon! ❤ Forreal, these color descriptions sell themselves you guys. Look at any product on their website, they’re all so clever and cute!

Now, my description and review: In certain lighting, Fox in pan looks nearly red/pink; it’s that dark of a coral. There is a very slight amount of shimmer, giving it the satin finish. The pigmentation is buildable, in the swatch picture below it’s one swipe on the right and two on the left. Colourpop’s blushes/eyeshadows/highlighters have a very interesting texture. In pan (or pot) they feel creamy, almost spongey? (sounds gross, I know!) When applied though, they act as a powder. You get the most pigmentation using your fingers to apply.

12957129_10206600098666765_704422183_n12968664_10206600098746767_1106950565_n

Using my finger, I applied a small swipe to the apples of my cheeks and diffused it quickly. These blushes lock into place, so blend while you can! Overall, I feel like it gave my face a lovely glow, adding a little color to my normally ghostly-pale complexion. After using this vibrant coral, I’m thinking about trying some of the more subdued shades from their line. In the pictures I’m also wearing Colourpop’s highlighter in Smoke N Whistles, another great product! Review will be up shortly for that one as well. 😉

The moisturizing properties makes it great in skincare products, so it’s a no-brainer that Lush would capitalize on it with one of their latest products.

Lush Cosmetics Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

Lush Cosmetics Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

Salted Coconut Hand Scrub is a highly moisturizing salt-based scrub, perfect for hands affected by this cold winter weather. Fine sea salt and fresh lemon infusion scrubs and brightens while cupuacu butter, argan oil, and extra virgin coconut oil moisturize. To use, simply wet your hands a bit, apply a generous scoop onto the backs of your hands, and begin scrubbing! Once you feel like you’ve buffed your skin enough, rinse the remaining scrub off and towel dry your hands. This product will make them ultra-smooth and baby-soft.

At only $15 a pot, Salted Coconut Hand Scrub is a must-have. This will be a product I will continue to repurchase, and highly suggest to anyone. You can pick one up at your local shop or online here in the US and here in the UK.

Lush Cosmetics Hand of Friendship Soap

The Syrian Refugee Crisis is one of the biggest problems in the world right now, with millions of Syrians leaving their country to start life anew. Unfortunately they aren’t as welcome in some places, with the stigma of terrorism attached to their ethnicity. However, Lush being the amazing humanitarian company that it is, wants to make the Syrian refugees plight easier. This is the target of their latest campaign, with 100% of the proceeds from every bar sold going to the Friendship Fund. The Friendship Fund is distributed to various organizations and charities to help the refugees arriving in North America. In store you can fill out a postcard that will be sent out to the arriving families. I must say, this is a brilliant effort to support, one that more companies should!

Lush Cosmetics Hand of Friendship Soap

Lush Cosmetics Hand of Friendship Soap

Hand of Friendship is a pink & gold shimmer bar of soap that looks like 2 hands embracing as in friendship, staying true to it’s name. As touching as the soap appears, it’s scent is just as unbelievably good. You get two main scent profiles from Hand of Friendship, a fruity-cherry scent, and a chocolate-marzipan. They combine to create the most mouthwatering fragrance, one reminiscent of chocolate-covered cherries, cherry coke, and creamy marzipan.

Lush Cosmetics Hand of Friendship Soap

This soap is conveniently sized to fit in the palm of your hand and very easy to use, you won’t have to worry about dropping this! It lathers very well, and leaves your skin ultra soft. Unfortunately, I did have a problem with Hand of Friendship. When being used, you get an ultra-strong generic soap scent with a hint of cherry. That creamy marzipan and chocolate note just disappears, and it begins to smell like soap in a doctors office. Luckily your skin is perfumed with the cherry scent and not the generic soap!

Each bar is $5.95 and can be purchased in store or online here.
