Why hello Mani Monday, long time no see! What has it been, about 2 months since our last manicure update? Too long, that’s for sure. In my defense, I haven’t done my nails at all during that time because I had an…accident. While trying to open a bottle of iced tea, I managed to chip off half of my thumbnail; hurt so bad I started crying! So I’ve spent the last 2 months growing that baby back so I can cover it in a fresh coat of lacquer. 🙂
This Mani Monday was actually not chosen by me, but by one of my students. At work she asked me why my nails looked so plain, and told me I should make them light pink and sparkly. Since she is just the sweetest, I knew I couldn’t let her down. This very shimmery manicure is brought to you by Sephora’s Formula X nail cleanser and base coat, OPI’s Dear Diary, and LE Formula X polish in Life Is The Bubbles. Since a few of these are discontinued, I’ll post dupes below. Also, please ignore my horrendous cuticles and hangnails! I need to take care of those ASAP.
My nails look so pearly, I’m in love! ❤ What color are your currently sporting? Also, I’m open to taking requests! Leave me a comment below if you have any suggestions/ideas on what I should do next. 🙂

It seems like lately I’ve been doing nearly all of my shopping at Costco. Food, clothes, office supplies, toys, Christmas decorations, books, quality makeup, I could go on and on about the items sold inside this magical warehouse. And yes, my local Costco has been carrying quality makeup lately. Shisheido skincare, 2 pack of L’Occitane hand creams, Jenna Hipp products, Bliss lotions, designer fragrances, all for extremely reasonable prices. My latest beauty find was this, O.P.I Color Paints Nail Kit:
For $12.99, this kit is a steal! All of these are minis, and have a very interesting consistency. The directions are simple, apply the silver polish and create designs with colored polishes on top. The silver applies streaky, but layering color over it hides that issue. The colored polishes have a gel like consistency but are very thin, making it easier to play around and mix the colors. They dry very quickly, and are very easy to use. I chose to do some swipe-y nail art, but you can just paint the nail all one color too.
Unfortunately my nails are in terrible condition right now, so painting them was a little difficult. Despite the issues, I think they turned out alright! It was very fun to do streaks and swipes of colors, mixing yellow and blue to create green, and I loved how quickly they dried. My favorite nail was the blue and purple one, it just looks so cool!
This set made me feel so artsy, and it’s so simple anyone can do it! If you or someone you know has a Costco membership, pick this up ASAP before they run out. 🙂
This last Halloween mani is inspired by the classic Halloween treat, candy corn. Love it or hate it, this candy is a holiday staple. All you need are three nail polishes; a yellow, orange, and white. I chose to paint it in gradients instead of separate stripes, meaning I painted the entire nail yellow, then half of it orange, and half of that white. You can also paint in stripes, that requires a little more precision though.
Now that it’s getting closer to Halloween, I figured it was time to “spook-ify” my manicure. Ghosts, jack-o-lanterns, monsters, Frankenstein, there are so many designs to choose from! After a quick Pinterest search, I found the perfect look. Behold, the Slasher Film-inspired manicure!
Simple white nail polish with some red splatters; just the perfect amount of creepy for this holiday. If you want to try this, I suggest using a cheap brush with stiffer bristles, maybe even an old toothbrush. It can get messy, so do the splattering over a towel or a piece of tin foil. Do you have a Halloween manicure?
While this might not be much of a shock, I may have a slight obsession with gold. My hair is golden, my room is white, mint, and gold themed, even my blog name is gold! Surprisingly, this week’s mani wasn’t inspired by any of these things; it was inspired by an incense burner on my desk.
Isn’t it just gorgeous? To achieve the same glimmering shade, I used “Self-Maid Millionaire” from the Cinderella OPI line. However, my nails still seemed a little lackluster. They needed some glam! I topped them with “Rags to Rhinestones”, a golden, bronze glitter. After sealing everything in with a top coat, the look was complete.
While this nail set was released what, 3 years ago?, you can still find some sets floating around online. This one here is only $39 on eBay! 🙂
Happy Monday everyone! I am so sorry I haven’t posted in a few days; school has officially started and I am in the thick of it. Discussion boards, chapter questions, and exams, it’s been difficult. However I finally have a handle on school, so let the normal blogging schedule recommence! (That means at least 2-4 posts a week) 🙂
This week’s mani is a mix of edgy and classy. The khaki green is an unexpected color, one that instantly brings to mind a camouflage pattern. The gold glitter accent nail complements the green perfectly, giving this mani a a polished, modern look. The color scheme is on par with fall fashion, and is extremely easy to do.
