I’ll admit, while I don’t have an overall brand preference (I like to mix and match!), I do tend to have brand preferences for certain products. Bite lipsticks, Hourglass powders, and Urban Decay eyeshadows, to give some examples. However, lately I’ve been finding $19 an eyeshadow to be a little too pricey. College just started, so my money’s tight! Buxom’s new eyeshadows have been getting lots of rave reviews and for $12, it’s a WAY better deal than UD. While I was tempted to make my own palette of six for just $40, I knew I should just try one shadow out first before buying an entire palette’s worth. What if the consistency was dry, difficult to blend, or *gasp* there was fallout?! Making up my mind, I bought this shade, Wild Nights.
Wild Nights is described as a “shimmering sugar plum”. It’s a medium-plum with orange undertones and pink shimmer. While that description sounds horrible (an orangey-purple?! Eww!), Wild Nights is just stunning. It’s such a interesting and unique shade of purple, I have nothing else like it in my arsenal of eyeshadows! It’s very pigmented, has a nice, smooth texture, and very minimal fallout. As with every eyeshadow, I use Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Wild Nights lasted over 9 hours without creasing.
If you have green eyes, this is a must-have eyeshadow! This plum is perfect for accentuating your eye color, and you’ll be getting compliments all day long. In these pictures I used Wild Nights all over my lid and blended it out with Booty Call from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette. Since this is such a unique shade, it was a little tricky finding a lipstick that worked well with it. Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien provides a perfect rosy pink color with a little shine. Buxom shadows are $12 individually, although you can create your own palette of 6 for $40! You can view their full eyeshadow range here.Ā I will definitely be making a full palette in the future, these are just fantastic. Have you tried Buxom eyeshadows before? š
I like orangey everything except for orangey red.. which seems weird, but it all works with my skin tone until it throws that red in there!

I’m the same way! Red w/ orange undertones just doesn’t work that well with cooler skin tones. š¦ I rock orange shadow very often though, and it looks fine. Strange, isn’t it?

Believe me, it was difficult! After trying the formula though, I’m definitely building my own palette next time. š

A pretty close dupe for this shadow is Last Call by Urban Decay, if you’re interested. š

Oh my goodness, yes! I actually wanted to try No Faux and Patent Leather, but they’re always out of stock. š¦ This one was right next to where Patent Leather SHOULD’VE been, and I’m glad it was. Such a gorgeous burgundy! š
